PRLog (Press Release car news )– Apr 26, 2011– The 9th annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles took place on April 12th to April 17th of 2011. The opening night gala presented the LA premier of the acclaimed film I Am Kalam produced by the Smile Foundation. This heart-warming tale was directed by Nila Madhab Panda starring Gulshan Grover, Harsh Mayar & Hussan Saad. The story features a young boy who has to work at a cafe to earn a living and he dreams of going to school. He makes friends with a local prince and they both learn from each other. Gulshan Grover who has played alot of villain roles i chevrolet n bollywo rc helicopter and car market place od films, takes on an entirely different type of role and shines in this film. He not only gave up his salary but gave his time generously to contribute to help bring awareness for education & the Smile Foundation.
I Am Kalam won the audience award for the Best Narrative at the Film Festival.
Additional Notes: The Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles featured a chrysler wonderful collection of films. The executive director of the festival is Christina Marouda and the board of directors includes the likes of Arnold Peter of PLG & Noel De Souza of the Hollywood Foreign Press. The attendees to the events ranged from movie lovers to Bollywood actors such as Anupam Kher, Gulshan Grover, Pooja Batra, Omi Vaidya & Hollywood actors such as Rizwan Manji, Parvesh Cheena, the Austrailian beauty Pippa Black as well as Thushari Jayasekera of NBC's Outsourced. The season finale of Outsourced will air May 5th & May 12th, 2011 at 10:30pm.
